Friday evening our Card Ministry at church met and had a make-it-take-it. I had 4 projects for all of the ladies to make and take home. It was a thank you for all the cards we've done over the year. Each 2-hour session yields 75-85 cards. In a year we've made over 1,000 cards to be used for our church. After making cards we enjoyed goodies we each brought and talked and ate. Nothing better than stamping then talking and eat right? LOL
Saturday was my birthday. My DH made me breakfast and I got to relax with a cup of hot coffee. There's nothing like a HOT cup of coffee. Friday evening I talked to a woman who is working with the group at church who don't have jobs right now. She said many people are so depressed right now that they could use a little love and caring......I asked when they meet and she said this Monday.
Guess how I spent my Saturday? Yup, I cut paper and stamped away to make 50 cards and 50 bags with handles so that they could put cookies in them. I also got my two kids to help me. They needed to be done for Sunday morning so I could drop them off at church so the woman could sign the cards and fill the bags with cookies.
I pray with my kids that if there are needs we can fill that God brings before us, that we'll take it on and just do it. Yesterday was one of those days. I originally was going to spend the day stamping anything I wanted.........God must get a kick out of our plans ya know?
We went out to eat at my favorite Italian Restaurant; Carrie Cerinos. It is about 3 minutes from our house. All of us ordered the lasagna........how funny that was, we've never all had the same exact thing for dinner. The wedding soup was wonderful and so was the bread with real butter!
After dinner Sarah and I went to buy a few gifts for the new baby a friend had. The baby was named after Sarah and she is the sweetest little girl. Sarah got to hold her. As soon as I got to hold her there was a very interesting smell coming from her.............she needed to be changed then continued to cry and needed to nurse again, so that ended our visit. Oh well.....it was important to go and let Sarah hold her.
When we got home Tim had the kitchen decorated and presents wrapped so we celebrated with presents. The last present I got was my grandfather's mantle clock. We had sent it to the clock maker 3-4 months ago to be cleaned and to get a key to wind it. I love hearing it keep time and chime at the half-hour and ring out the hour.
My DS took a picture of himself and printed it out and put it into a frame for me.........awwww what a mom moment huh?
I went to sleep so full of joy................I thank God for my family and for all the good He allows us.
One of the gifts I got was a Thomas Kinkade clock. It plays Christmas Carols on the hour. In my craft area, I have several TK pictures on the walls, so the clock is a lovely accent.
One of my favorite annual gifts from my DH is that he takes pictures that I take throughout the year and has two different photograph calendars made for me. One I put in my office and the other is in my craft area where I spend a good deal of time. This is January....the photo is ice coated tree brances that look so pretty.
This is the photo my DS enlarged and put into a frame for me. What a wonderful gift from the heart. This was all his idea.
Here is the Thomas Kinkade Cottage flower arrangement I received at work from my DH. There is a glowing flickering fireplace and people inside the little cottate.
Here is Sarah Ann holding Sarah Joy.
This is our entry way decorated for the holidays. I used to collect Santas and that's what you see on the floor here.
This is our mantle and part of the tree. The large red stocking on the mantel is the stocking Sarah was put in during her hospital stay when she was born. She was born Dec. 30th. I got pictures of her in that stocking. She is amazed she ever fit in it. She was 9lbs. 13oz. when she was born. That's the last time she was big! LOL
I hope to get some stamping done today................Thanks for visiting today. One week of work then I'm on vacation for the holidays.
Bless you for visiting.
Sue
