What Have I Been Up To?

What have I been up to you ask?  Well I've been busy getting things ready for so many things this week.
We shopped for shoebox Christmas.  If you're not familiar with this, check it out here.  This is one of the most wonderful organizations to support.   Most of the money donated to their cause is used for their cause.  We've been doing this for years since our kids were little.  I love watching them pick out things for "their" child.  It also reminds me that we are so fortunate here in America.  We take so much for granted.  I pray that God will continue to bring needs to us that we can help with.  Is that your prayer?  That people in need will be brought to you so you can do God's will?  What a tough thing that is when God's will is not your will.
Here are two cards I made up for my students to make for the 50 vets that we honored in our school November 11th.  What an incredible day we have for them.

Here are the cards we made for Card Mnistry tonight.  We had 10 ladies working on cards from 7-9:15 and we made 210 cards!  A new world record for us!  Praise God for His wondrous glory in our lives.  He surely enabled us to do that work tonight.
Another wonderful thing he enabled was that we'd be able to add a few ministries to our monthly card Minstry list.  We've added our Nursing Home ministry, Remember Nhu, and Summit Point, a senior retirement community to our monthly list of card making.  It's only through God that we can do all of this.
This is one of my favorites since it's so simple.  I stamped on bashful blue then added two-way glue and dazzling diamonds. We added a bow in the corner with a glue dot and mounted this onto burgundy paper.

I love the colors here with razzleberry and olive.  I also love this retured SU set.  I wanted to use a background stamp that was simple.  I like this one from SU.  I have become used to using my Big Shot instead of background stamps.  Simple fact, I'm lazy and don't want to clean the stamps that big at the sink.  LOL
Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers to grow and stamp.  This is a stamp that was donated to our card ministry.  We colored the flowers with markers. We used the ticket punch for the two corners at the top.  I cut just above the fence to allow the flowers to be placed behind the fence. We added sympathy words  and the ticket punch all around.  This was mounted with dimensionals.
I really enjoyed working with one of SU's new stamp sets.  It's  Hostess level 2 set and it was wonderful to play with.  I love the font of the peace on earth.  SU had a set years ago with a larger globe that I loved yet didnt' buy. So I'm so glad this one is here. I also wanted to use something that wasn't the traditional red and green colors. This was a big step out of my comfort zone, I have to tell you!

Here is another retired SU set that I love to use for cards.  This is just so easy to use.  I am having a stamping night Friday and would love to use it but don't dare as it can't be purchased anymore. I thought this background folder went perfectly with the pine branches.
So I've finally mastered the embossing with a folder and having part if the card be blank.  Thanks to Dawn I was finally able to do this.  Thanks Dawn.
This card I wanted to have it be something a man or woman could get.  I love this Thomas Kinkade stamp.  I also wanted to put the faux wood background in behind it.  the thank you is small enough to allow the church to be the important thing here.
Don't you just love this little puppy?  I thought he would be perfect for a male get well card.  I stamped in the plaid background stamp from SU which is retired.  I also put the not quite navy cardstock through the crimper two ways so it would be very textured.  Do you like that?  Unfortunately this set is retured from SU also....But it's a keeper just for things like this don't you think?
I am so greatful for all of the women who came tonight to help us make cards for others. I pray that God will allow me to continue this ministry to meet new people and impact His kingdom.

We get so much out of doing this ministry.  I get to meet and form friendships with women in the church.  I get to draw nearer to God as I pray over the women making the cards as well as those who will recieve them.  Isn't it amazing to think of all the small details God's worked out for each and every one of us?  I can't fathom all he does for me..............
Thanks for visiting.
Blessings,
