CASING-Our Preferences and Style

 Hey Everybody,

Here's a new challenge today. What to do with poppies?

Linda chose Jean's gallery. The challenge can be found here
My inspiration from Jean's gallery is here.

I knew as soon as I saw Jean's poppy which stamp I'd use. It is an old House Mouse stamp which hardly gets any use. So glad to dust it off and use it today. I stamped using Versafine black ink. I colored with Prismacolor colored pencils. I liked the blue Jean used on her card, so I used something similar.
I changed the stamp but kept one poppy. I made a rectangle card instead of a square. I used different colors for cardstock and added designer series paper with dry embossing. The image and sentiment panels were added with dimensionals. I added the little mouse footprints to make it look like he'd walked to the poppy, then needed a nap. This will go to the local hospital to cheer someone. It will go on a dinner tray.

Do you have any poppy stamps? If not, how about a similar flower stamp or die?  You could always use a flower die to make your card. I just realized now that I don't use a lot of dies on my cards. I guess I like the ink and paper way of making cards.

Don't get me wrong, I use dies but don't like using little dies or stamps.  My friend Jan, loves to use Lawn Fawn stamps and dies for cardmaking. Let me show you an example.

Look at the size of those stamps and dies. Eeeeeek! I get all twitchy looking at things this size. LOL Jan loves making scenes with stamps and dies this small. It may take several hours, but she is more than happy to color, cut and glue those images onto cards.

We all have our own preferences and styles for card making.  Have you ever thought about what your style or preferences are?
I like to:
use blending brushes and daubers
color images with Copic Markers or Colored pencils; regular or watercolor pencils
layer my cards
use dimensionals behind images
use ribbon and bling

Take a look at some of your cards and see what types of things are common in them.
If you tend to use the same layouts, try other ways to build a card. Check out the Sketch Challenges on Splitcoaststampers found here.
