My Runner and Some Beauties

Well today was a cold, rainy day and guess where we were? Yup, at the track watching my DS run in the 4x200 race. His 4-some came in second and his team won first place! I'm so proud of him taking on something so different. He's been a baseball player since he was 2, so to watch him run is something new for us.
He went to Pittsburgh over the weekend for a missions trip and had the time of his life. He loved the preaching. I guess there was a black preacher who energized the kids and got them ready to go out into Pittsburgh and serve. Ben said, "I wish our preachers were like that!" Gotta love his honesty. Anyway, Ben and his youth pastor and others from our church were assigned a small farm that was no longer usable because of something in the soil. They had to layer cardboard and dirt into a child's wading pool to get it ready for someone to plant. They had to finish up another job first before they could start on the pools. He said they only got 6 of the 12 pools done. They had someone on-site who cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for all of them. It rained and was cold for a while.........guess who didn't bring a jacket or change of clothes? I felt sorry for him, but at 13 sometimes you can't tell them anything.
After another evening service and a meal, they set out for Pittsburgh stadium. The walked up to the gates and saw that the Pirates were playing. Then they saw the rivers and started their drive home. Their pastor knows all the GREAT places to eat, so they stopped at a hot dog place and had a great meal. He cam home exhausted but very, very fulfilled. I praise God for his willingness to serve others.

Here are some of our beauty here in Ohio.

This bleeding heart is one of my favorites. I've loved them since I was a kid.

This is our crab apple tree. These blossoms burst forth overnight~

So on this cold, dreary day I can remember who is in control and be thankful that He still has me here to do what he needs me to do. Thanks for visiting.
