Father's Day 2008

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. My husband and son got to sleep in today while Sarah and I went to church. Ben came home last night from his mission trip to WV and was exhausted so I let him sleep. Tim got up early this morning and made coffee but fell asleep in his Lazy Boy recliner. So we thought they needed the sleep and we'd all be happier if they had it!
We celebrated Father's Day when we arrived home from church. We have a wonderful screened-in porch on the back of the house and that's where we had Tim open presents. It was a beautiful weekend here. It was cool enough to open the house which was very nice.
It was a wonderful family time. We sat around talking after Tim opened his presents. It was wonderful being together again. The kids seemed content to sit and talk not run off to do something themselves. Maybe they each missed each other while Ben was gone.........nah, probably not! LOL
I actually think they did miss each other but they'd never admit it!
I'll admit it, I missed Ben. He seems to be nearby lately with a hug or how ya doin' mom. I think he missed me too.

Today in our service we began a sermon series about how God used ordinary people in the Bible, not super humans. We can all be used by God if we are open to what his will is in our life. I am working on getting right with God so I can hear what he wants me to do with my life.
I am at a point in my career where very soon I'll hit 30 years. I can retire if I want to but I'm not sure what God wants me to do. I love my job most of the time, right now I have a great, supportive boss. I am praying that I can know what God wants me to do with my career and my life. It's a hard thing to sit quietly and wait for God's answer. Life seems so rushed sometimes that I don't sit and listen to what God has to say.
I am a little sad today as my father has been gone for 25 years now. He never had the chance to meet any of his grandchildren. That makes me so sad because he would have been a fabulous grandfather!!
I pray that anyone who has a father living, that they make things right with him and enjoy the time you have left.
Blessings and Hugs to you and yours. Thanks for stopping by.

It looks like you had a wonderful Father's Day celebration!

I understand being sad on Father's Day, my Mother passed away 8 years ago and Mother's day is always sad, but this year I am a new Mom for the first time so it wasn't quite as sad.

It looks like your DH had a great father's day!
I understand how you feel; my father passed away November 2008. This father's day I visited his grave-site and left flowers. I know he is in God's care, but I miss him (: He was a good Christian man and I am blessed to have had him as a father.
It is a blessing to have had good fathers.
