Valentine's Day Cards

I love to make cards based on the challenges that I get on Splitcoaststampers.  Saturday finds, The Inspiration Challenge.  You are given a website to browse. You choose something you like, and make a card based on that item.

When I saw this garage door sign, I immediately wanted to make a card because of the colorful stripes.

I had just seen designer series paper that would be perfect for this item. I stamped my sentiment then used My Chick stamp and dies to make my card. I colored the chicken's hair the colors of the stripes. I added conversation hearts to the corn stalk instead of a border. This was a fun card to create.

I had stamping time with Emily and we made a couple of different  fold, cards. The first one is called a curtain fold. The second one is folded back to show off the other side of the designer series paper. Isn't that panda just the cutest thing?  He's from a Gerda Steiner stamp set called, Lovely Pandas.

Another challenge for the Clean and Simple Challenge, was to make a card with some kind of bug or insect. This dragonfly is from a very old Stampin' Up set called, Wonderful Wings. It is a set with 3 butterflies and a dragonfly. It was a wooden set that I just couldn't  part with. I stamped, and colored the dragonfly. I used silver metallic pen to trace the body and wings. I stamped splatters then added my sentiment.

If you haven't seen the Sand & Sea suite, you need to do that. This is a card for the Color Challenge. I cut out the background with a large die. Then I put the die into the embossing folder. then I stamped the stamps on the embossed images on my card. I mad a sentiment and used starfish which also have a die to finish my card. I used our blending brushes to add green ink to the plants on the card.
This was another card I made with directions from Splitcoaststampers. You used alcohol inks, blending solutions for alcohol ink, and yupo paper. I knew I wanted to make a coffee card, so I used shades of brown ink. Once the ink and blending solution are on the paper, you use something to blow air on the ink to move it around. It dries quickly so you have to work fast. This is addicting, I could have sat there all afternoon to make different colored backgrounds.

Verse of the Day: John 6:35
Blessing of the Day: I had lots of time in my stamp studio. I also got to cook with Tim. We enjoy cooking together. We did that before kids came along. It's been nice to get back to it. The fun thing is, we choose brand new recipes to us and make it together.

Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Bensarmom
