Simple Woman's Daybook, April 14, 2021

  For Today April 14, 2021

This is where it all began

Looking out my window, I saw the cutest rabbit as I was looking at all the things growing in the garden. I think she has a nest under the pool deck.

I am thinking, that looks like tomorrow will rain. We'll be continuing to clean. With all the remodeling, many things need to be cleaned.

I am thankful that Tim did so much today in spite of being tired. He cut the front and back yards, sprayed for weeds and dandelions, then used the rug cleaner to clean all of the rugs outside on the driveway. He left them to dry in the sun. They look like brand new!  Then he helped me clean the kitchen, small bathroom and laundry room from top to bottom. That included INSIDE the  refrigerator!

One of my favorite things is making cards with friends. I will be able to do that THIS Friday! I am going to Jan's house to stamp, and hug, and hug and hug!

I am creating lots of cards for future classes. I like to get ahead if I can. Here are the cards and box we made this week at my Zoom class.  I used many things that will retire in May. I love this Forever Gold Specialty Paper. I used it on almost everything this month!

I am so happy to go back to in-person classes in May! Now I can do techniques and make cards with images and sentiments instead of having to come up with ideas where designer series paper is used, or dies or punches, to make the front of the card.

These kits were sent and while I used stamps to make samples, my class had to use their own stamps after we were finished with class.

All of these projects have a video to show how to make them. Check them out here, on my YouTube Channel.

This card has a white card which opens like a book, then a soft sea foam piece that is folded at 2 1/8" then dry embossed with the new Evergreen 3D embossing folder.

This is our gold pizza box, which was dry embossed with the Lace 3D die. Then we added the gold wreath, the sentiment, the gold hoop, and the ribbon and pearls.
This is a card that I had to use  a punch and ribbon for the front instead of an image. The inside of this card has a step or shelf in it.
This card is an interlocking gatefold card. The top and bottom paper is attached to the right panel. The center paper is attached on the left panel. It's pretty cool to see and very easy to make.

I am wearing my Austin, TX t-shirt, jeans, socks and tennis shoes. It was a cool day today, so we're still wearing jeans, not shorts.

I am listening
to Danny Gokey on Spotify. Here's one of my favs.  It's a new song called, Every Victory. Give it a listen and read the words.  This is a powerful song.

I am hoping
I can see my mom this Sunday! It's been 15 months since I've been able to see her in the nursing home. It seems unreal as I think of it. I'm praying she still remembers me.

I am learning how to do different crochet stitches using a monthly kit, Tim bought me for Christmas. Each month I receive 3 different colored yarns and directions and video teaching me new stitches in different colors. By the end of the year, I'll have a completed afghan with different stitches in each row of colors. I am on the second kit of yarn. I love it so far.

In my kitchen all is quiet and very clean! Both Tim and I did a thorough cleaning of it today. Whew, it reminded me once again, how much I hate cleaning! LOL

In the school room I've been learning all about putting mud on drywall, sanding and filling in joints. Tim is making great progress on the bathroom walls, inside and out.

In my garden things are growing like crazy! Take a look!

This is one of my favorite plants. It is a bleeding heart. It was a plant that was in my mom's garden. Her mom and grandmother grew these too. I can't wait to show this to her when I visit Sunday.

Lilies of the Valley are coming up. Hopefully they will bloom this year.

Poppies are growing here. They will be orange like my mom had in her garden.
One of our roses has really taken off. I can't wait to see the flowers on this.

The strawberries are growing well. Soon we'll see those white flowers, then the red goodies!

I can't believe  how quickly trees are budding now. When driving down the street, all the trees are filled with white or pink flowers. We have two crab apple trees in front of our house. Usually they bloom in May. The pink one is beginning to flower. We had a couple of days of 70 degree weather last week

A moment from my day

Here's Chloe sitting in the container that held the kits for this month's classes. Both cats love to sit 'in' things.

This is a fun fold card that I'm working on for a class.
This is a challenge card from Splitcoaststampers. It is using the new Party Puffins. This is such a cute set.

Verse of the Day: Proverbs 16:9

Blessings of the Day: I got to talk to Ben today. Tim got the front and back lawns cut. We got the kitchen, laundry room and small bathroom cleaned today. What satisfaction that brought. These are the types of jobs that you procrastinate but feel wonderful when they are finished.

Blessings,
Bensarmom
