We're Going To The Beach

 Hey Everybody,

Faith's challenge was for the beach. Check it out here.

I stamped the fence with crumb cake ink then used blending brushes to add the sand using crumb cake and so saffron. I used my Judith stamp to add spots to look like grains of sand. I brushed color against a cut out for the clouds then used a piece of torn cardstock and brushed it for waves in the ocean.
I stamped the birds using soft suede and colored them and the grass with watercolor pencils. Then I brushed them with my blender pen. I stamped the sentiment with early espresso ink.

Keywords: WT1062
Stamps: SU Wetlands, CTMH-Seaside Greetings, Stamps by Judith-dots
Paper: white, night of navy
Paper Size: A2
Ink: so saffron, crumb cake, misty moonlight, night of navy, soft suede
Accessories: sponge daubers, blending brushes, torn cardstock, prismacolor watercolor pencils, blending pen,
Techniques: ink blending, sponging

I have to say, this is an old stamp set. Years ago I had a friend who was a Maker for Close To My Heart. We would swap catalogs and order from each other giving each other the demonstrator discount. It was a great way to work with very different stamps like this. It also got me into scrapbooking a bit as well, as CTMH was mostly a scrapbooking company.

When I saw it I wanted to be able to remember some of my favorite vacations at the beach. This was a style that was very different from Stampin' Up. I really liked the fence and sand stamp.

I think I'll keep this set out and play with it using the lighthouse and/or the boat. I tend to use the fence and sand the most for cards lately.

Do you have any stamps that remind you of vacations you've taken? Do you have any where you favor one or two stamps in a set?

This is also a card where I used stamps from a Stampin' Up set with this CTMH set. I like doing that to be able to add to a scene with combining sets like this.

Well, it's off to post this and think about the beach and the sound of the waves coming in and out.

Blessings,

Sue
