Happy Labor Day and A Challenge Too

 Hey Everybody,

Happy Labor Day

Did You Know?

Labor Day is a federal holiday that celebrates the achievements, contributions, and strength of American workers.

The holiday pays tribute to the hard work of laborers who built the nation's communities, infrastructure, and economy.

It grew out of the late 19th-century industrial revolution, when workers fought for fair pay, safe conditions, and an eight-hour workday amidst harsh conditions.

The U.S. Department of Labor notes that the first unofficial Labor Day was celebrated with a parade of 10,000 workers in New York City on September 5, 1882.

Federal Recognition: President Grover Cleveland signed it into law as a national holiday on June 28, 1894, following violent railroad strikes.

Now You Know!

Here is a challenge card I've never made before. Can you believe that after over 20 years of stamping, and challenges, I've never seen this card before? It's true.

Sabrina's challenge is to make a sliding locking card. You can find Sabrina's challenge here.

Here is my card.  My card was made with the Violet Dreams designer series paper. I also used the adhesive back blooms flowers for my embellishment.  The dies I used for the sentiment and flowers were from The Scalloped Blooms die set.

Keywords: TLC1124
Stamps: SU-retired anniversary
Paper: hydrangea hue, SU-Violet Dreams designer series paper
Paper Size: A2
Ink: gorgeous grape
Accessories: adhesive back blooms, foam adhesive sheets, word window punch, Scalloped Blooms dies
Techniques: sliding locking card

Here is a video from Chris Slogar from buckeyeinklings.com. She has a great way of teaching how to do this card.  If however, you don't want to bother with a diagonal cut for your card base or designer paper, you can leave it straight. It won't affect the card's magic open/close technique.

You can click on the list to get more information about the products I'm showing here.
Here are the embellishments I used for my card.

Have a happy, restful and safe Labor Day Everyone!
I'm going to relax and hopefully see my Grandblessings to babysit while my kids celebrate their anniversary.
Blessings,
Sue
