Where Oh Where Are We Today?

Where Oh Where Are We Today?

I have never been to this place in Cleveland, but have heard wonderful things about it. It's rolling acres of beautifully landscaped areas are often talked about.  It is easy to get to.

It is a privately owned, nonprofit garden cemetery located in the cities of Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and East Cleveland.

Founded in 1869, the cemetery was favored by wealthy families during the Gilded Age.

These people are buried in our next area of Cleveland, Ohio.  What is the name of this place and where is it?

Eliot Ness

Public Safety Director for Cleveland, 1935-1942, known for helping bring down Al Capone in Chicago.

Ness collapsed and died at his home in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, of a heart attack on May 16, 1957; he was 54. His ashes were scattered in one of the small ponds on the grounds.

Ray Chapman

Shortstop for the Cleveland Indians. The only Major League Baseball player to have died from an injury received at a major league baseball game after being struck in the head by a pitch.

John D. Rockefeller

Founder of the Standard Oil Company of Ohio and the first Billionaire in the United States.

Henry A. Sherwin

Founder of The Sherwin-Williams Company.

President James A. Garfield

The James A. Garfield Memorial is a memorial dedicated to assassinated President James A. Garfield and located here.

I probably gave it away with the name James A. Garfield, right?

If you haven't guessed by now I'll tell you now. This is Lake View Cemetery on Euclid Ave.
