After teaching a week of classes, I like to get online and check out challenges on Splitcoaststampers as well as try new techniques or layouts. I also play with stamps and products that aren't Stampin' Up.
If you know me, you know I like cute animal character stamps. The first card is just that. It is an old stamp but I love to use it each year for Easter. Sometimes I use them together as you see in the first card.
Sometimes I use them individually on a card as you can see in the second card. It's fun to challenge yourself to use your stamps in different ways. My challenge was, how do I use one tiny stamp on a card? What else do I use with it? AAAHHHH it's out of my comfort zone! LOL That's the challenge of it. This type of card making stretches your thinking and imagination. It allows you to overcome that fear of what to do and just start experimenting with different things until you find something that works.
Friday's Free 4 All Challenge was: Use Bunnies, chicks, Ducklings on your card.
This is one of my favorite Easter stamps. I just love these little guys. They were stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink and colored with Copic markers. I cut this down and added a boho blue cardstock behind it. I cut a banner tail and added ribbon. The background was made using my Heartfelt Hexagon punch and the cute Echo Park Bunnies and Baskets designer paper. I added the die cut, Easter Joy to finish the card. I feel such joy when I see these little guys!
The Challenge Saturday was: We are having starting our Spring Break at school and I am so ready for trees, grass and flowers. So we are heading to the site of one of the leading wholesale distributors of Dutch bulbs and perennials, K. Van Bourgonien and their Pinterest board. So check it out, pick what appeals to you and create. Be sure to link back to your inspiration piece.
Here is my inspiration for my card:
I stamped in memento tuxedo black ink then colored the image with Copic markers. I colored the dots on the boots with a white gel pen. I fussy cut the image and added dimensionals and added it to a dry embossed scallop die cut piece of pineapple punch cardstock. This was then added to my piece of designer paper. Lastly, I added my sentiment.
Sunday's Challenge is called The Featured Stamper. A gallery is chosen from Splitcoaststampers and we look through the gallery and make a card similar to one we see in the gallery. Then we list changes we've made when we post the card we make.
Here is the card Darlene made.
Here is my card and what I wrote. I changed the shape of the punch, the color of the background paper and the direction of the card. I punched out scraps from Thoughtful Journey and placed them on black cardstock leaving about 1/8" between shapes. I placed them vertically for a different look. I cut the cross from white cardstock and Thoughtful Journey designer series paper using the back side to get the pastel look.
I added dry embossing using the 3D Fern embossing folder to get a 'palm leaf kind of look'. I added Wink of Stella to the openings in the cross and added a gem to the center of the cross.
Here is a card that I started with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch with Easter designer paper for the background. Then I had to figure out what to do with the background. I punched out cardstock with the hexagon punch and heat embossed Happy Easter in white embossing powder. Then I die cut Easter Eggs that I'd stamped, and added them around the sentiment. Next I placed the cute bunnies at the bottom staring up at the sentiment.
This card was designed in my head. It's not often that a design in my head comes out as well on my card as I saw it in my head! LOL
Anyway, that's how I spend some of my time in between teaching classes. I keep learning new things and trying new techniques. It's part of being a teacher. It's been in me for a lot of years. Never stop learning.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
