Out Of This World

 Hey Everybody,

Today we're going to be out of this world with our cardmaking!  Here's the challenge.

I used my blending brushes and night of navy, summer splash and calypso coral to make my space sky. I stamped with two stamps in versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder for the stars in the sky. I added my sentiment to white paper and punched out a 2" circle and added night of navy ink to the edges. I added a 2 1/4" silver circle behind the white circle. The image panel was backed with silver then night of navy for my cardbase.
Keywords: CAS853
Stamps: Words to the Rescue-Friendship Stamps, SU-Christmas Pines, SU-Season Like Christmas
Paper: white, night of navy, silver
Paper Size: A2
Ink: night of navy, versamark, calypso coral, summer splash
Accessories: silver embossing powder, heat tool, 2" and 2 1/4" circle punches, blending brushes
Techniques: ink blending, heat embossing

Did you notice that I used silver, navy and summer splash again on this card?  When I had to make a background look like outer space, I thought those two colors would look great. I also thought using calypso coral with those colors would really add to it.
I really liked how they looked together.

I have to tell you I'm not comfortable making any kind of space background. I don't have space stamps and haven't made many space backgrounds for cards.

My first thought was, "I can't do this challenge." "I'll have to ask Jan if I can borrow some of her alien stamps."  Then I started to think, I have a star punch. I looked, no star punch. I have star stamps in Christmas stamps! Yes! I brought three stamp sets to my desk that had stars. After stamping on scratch paper, I decided which ones to use.

Do you do that? Stamp on scrap paper with stamps before you use them on your cardstock?  It's a great way to play around with combinations of images, before you stamp on your actual card.

Then I went in search of a stamp with the word, 'world' in it.
Do you ever do computer searches for stamps?  I do this all the time. I type in the company name, then what the stamp says.  Then I click on images to see what I can find.

I did a search with this: Stampin' Up star stamp. This is what I got after I clicked on images.
I can see if I own any of the sets it shows, I also can see what people have done with different stamps.

Well, that's a look into how I come up with ideas on my cards.
I hope you continue to visit here and continue to use your gifts and talents to make cards, scrapbook pages, or whatever else you are blessed to do.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Sue
