I am
thinking- We all have so much to be thankful for. There is always someone who is better off and worse off than us. We need to stay focused on God and why He has us here.
I am
creating a mini granny square afghan. It is for a local nursing home to be used as a lap blanket. It's a great way to use up yarn left over from other afghans.
I am wearing a short-sleeved black striped shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. I've had a zippered sweatshirt on and off all day.
I am listening to a new artist named Travis Clark. Listen to the lyrics of this song. It's been such an encouragement to me.
I am learning some wonderful new techniques for stamping that I am passing along to my classes this week. If you look closely, you'll see the Stampin' Up sunflower 3d embossing folder. I used the wax paper emboss resist on this and used three different colors of ink. I used pretty peacock, calypso coral and blackberry bliss. I added a die cut in blackberry bliss and a few tiny gold bees.
This week we are making something called Wax Paper Emboss resist technique. You take a piece of wax paper and put it in an embossing folder and run it through your embossing die cutting machine. Then you place the wax paper on glossy cardstock and but another piece of glossy cardstock on top (so you get two pieces to add ink to.) Heat your iron to the hottest setting without steam. Place computer paper over the glossy paper and iron for about 5-10 seconds. The wax paper will melt in the pattern of the embossing folder and attach to your glossy paper.
Now you can add ink to the glossy paper with sponge dauber, blending brushes or directly with an ink pad.
Now you have a background you can use to make your card.
In my
kitchen all is quiet except the cries of the two cats. It's feeding time and they cry like they haven't eaten all day!
In the school room I am learning a bit about water coloring with paint. I usually use my watercolor pencils. Lately I'm try to use my Peerless Watercolors. The paint comes on paper and is very concentrated so you don't use much at a time.
In Tim's garden he has begun to cut back some of the bushes and plants. He's mulched and moved some plants for better growth next year.
Then she proceeded to try to find a box that my shoe box would fit into. Then she asked me if it was okay if she shipped my return in a heavy paper envelope. I asked her if she was shipping this or was I shipping it. She said she was shipping it. I just said, "All I want it my receipt to show I returned these. I don't need to watch you pack it and put a label on it.
I don't know if others are really particular on how their returns are shipped, but I didn't care as long as it got there. LOL
The embarrassing part was when she asked if anything was wrong with the shoes. I told her, "No, I just couldn't walk in them!" I haven't worn heels in a lot of years and thought I could wear these low heels for the wedding. There was no way I could wear them unless I practiced walking in them. Even then, I was afraid I'd fall trying to walk down the aisle. So, I bought a pair of flats in navy to go with my dress. Here's the dress I got. Just picture this woman in flats.
It Might Sound Strange but, here's a card that was very easy to make. I took a piece of Thoughtful Journey designer series paper and stamped this background stamp on that paper. It makes a beautiful scene doesn't it? This is going to a woman who lost her husband. On Splitcoaststampers there is a place where people can ask for cards to be sent to people. It could be someone is sick, recovering from surgery, facing a difficult time with disease or other things going on in their life. Anyway, there is a group of women who see that need and make a card, write a note in it and send it on its way.
Closing Thoughts-It's back to normal routines again which is a great relief. You don't realize how much a wedding can take out of you with the rehearsal dinner, the rehearsal and the wedding. We had to drive 30 minutes away for the wedding and 30 minutes back to the reception hall. It took me a day or two to get rested after all of that activity.
Sometimes routine is a welcome thing ya know?
Thanks for stopping by today.
Blessings,
Sue
