What is Paper Piecing in Card Making?

 Hey Everybody,

I'm back today with a fun birthday card. Our challenge was celebrating World Senior Citizen Day.

(I didn't know there was such a thing did you?)  The challenge can be found here if you'd like to play along.

I stamped the image on white paper then stamped it on the designer series paper in the stamp positioner. I cut out the chair in white and the designer series paper at the same time. The white paper was on top so it was easier to see the lines of the chair to cut on. I colored the image with Copic Markers. Then I glued the chair to the white cardstock. I stamped the two outside sentiments then used the new Stampin' Up rub-ons to add something to the corners. The inside says, Gettin' Old Ain't For Sissies!

The technique that I used for the chair is called paper piecing. Don't confuse this with the paper piecing you do with quilting.

This technique is where you stamp your image on designer paper then cut it out and put it on your card. I have a short video to more easily help you understand what I mean.

Think about some of the images you have in your stash. Instead of coloring them look for a piece of designer series paper to add to it instead. Stamp it on your designer paper, cut it out and attach it to your card. It's that easy!

Here are some samples from my gallery of paper piecing. You can see that you can use just about any stamp and paper for this technique.
Just like when I'm designing cards, I choose my designer paper first, then color other items in my image to match the designer paper colors. It's much easier to do it this way than color your image then go in search of paper that might match it.

Well, now you know about paper piecing. All you have to do now is choose a stamp and some designer paper and stamp and cut away. Have fun. Share your creation with someone.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Blessings,
Sue
