Hey Everybody,
I'm back, it's been a busy, busy week. This week I taught 4 stamp classes, spent the day with Mia for 3 days and went to the eye dr. I was so glad to get a break today.
I was able to do a fun challenge today. Here is out challenge location. Denise's website for the challenge was Quilted Chickens. I chose their Pinterest site found here.
Here is the inspiration for my card.
Here's my card.
I cut strips of designer series paper 1/4" x 6" and added them to the edges of my 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock. I trimmed the designer series paper then added the hearts punched out of the Bee Builder punch with a mini dimensional. I dry embossed the card front with the Hearts of Love 3D embossing folder. I added the white panel to a flirty flamingo card base. I stamped and added the sentiment and the embellishments. This will go on a dinner tray at a local hospital.| Keywords: IC1050 love hearts hugs |
Stamps: Concord & 9th Sweet Talk
Paper: white, flirty flamingo, SU-Made With Love designer series paper
Ink: real red
Accessories: SU-Bee Builder punch, SU-Strawberry Slush and Pretty in Pink Gems, SU-Hearts of Love 3D embossing folder
Techniques: punching, dry embossing
Here is the punch I used for the heart. It is called the Bee Builder Punch. Here is the embossing folder I used for this card.
Here are the gems I used on my card.
The paper I used is called, Made With Love patterned paper. This is a great card to use up those scraps you have. Each heart only needs a 1 1/4" square. The strips for the border are 1/4" by 4" and 1/4" by 5 1/4".
I think I'm going to experiment with this layout and see what other punches I might be able to use instead of the hearts. I have lots of scraps and I bet you do too.
Here is on card I made using the Product of the Month designer series paper called, True Blue.
The first card shows 3/4" strips of paper put on the balmy blue card base. I started with a dot in the center of the card at the bottom. I placed the strip to the right first, then layered the second strip over the first strip so it overlapped. You can use whatever size strips you want. That's the beauty of working with scraps.
This second card was made by laying strips diagonally on the card base. As you can see, I have two different strips per line. If the paper is from the same paper pack, you will have papers that will look good together. This card can be made with a bit of space between the rows or between the strips in each row if you like. For me that takes more skill to keep the open space the same throughout the card. LOL
Sometimes when I look at my designer paper I get overwhelmed with the scraps. I keep a file on my computer that has ideas like this for working with scraps. Every now and then when my scraps overfill my envelopes, I click on that file and get busy. Now you have a few ideas of how to use those ever multiplying scraps.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Sue
