Challenges, Challenges, Challenges

 Hey Everyone,

I'm still working on challenges so here are three more.

Our challenge was a photo today.

I stamped the image in memento rich cocoa and colored it with Copic Markers.  The image is from a retired Stampin' Up set called, Peekaboo Forest. I fussy cut it as well as the sentiment and pumpkins. I dry embossed the background panel with and embossing folder from Darice called, Foliage. Then I pulled the inks, Distress Ink-vintage photo, rusty hinge, aged mahogany and SU-pumpkin pie across the panel in a direct to paper technique. I added the images and sentiment with dimensionals.

Neurographic art is characterized by random lines crossing the page.
Where the lines cross on the page the corners are rounded.
I like how this technique looks. I struggle releasing perfection and allowing them to truly be random.
I recently came across a technique that helps those lines to be more
random and organic. It is called pushing pennies.
Basically you use a pencil or pen to push the penny across the page.
Horizontally several times, and vertically several times.
where the lines cross you round the corners.
at first I was skeptical but the lines really look random because pushing
a penny is harder than you would think.

I know they say there is a penny shortage, but I hope you can find one for my challenge.
My challenge is to try the penny pushing technique.
There are several ways you can do this-
Easy do the lines on dp:

Our challenge was to push a penny across a piece of paper vertically and horizontally. I traced the penny lines with black marker then colored in the bottom ones to look like pumpkins. I put the bear holding a pumpkin on top of the pile then added a sentiment above him.
Here's my card. I have to tell you I was very much outside of my comfort zone with this card. I had no idea what I was going to do with it once I "drew" the lines with a penny.  Then I looked at this little bear with a pumpkin and thought, I could make pumpkins from the blobs at the bottom of the paper! LOL

Paper: white, coastal cabana, designer paper from a friend
Paper Size: A2
Ink: pumpkin pie, memento rich cocoa
Accessories: penny, Copic Markers, Graph-O black marker, dimensionals

The cute bear stamp is from Gerda Steiner called, Pumpkin Bear.
Our challenge was to make a quilt card. I used the Our Daily Bread Designs Star Quilt to make my card. I cut out two papers from the same paper pack and used one for the star and one for the border. The designer paper I used is a retired paper called, Elegant Pine Snowflakes. It is from last year. I added an evergreen ribbon to this. This type of card is called a book binding card.

Accessories: evergreen ribbon, Our Daily Bread Star Quilt, SU-Eyelet 3D embossing folder
Techniques: die cutting, book binding card
Here's a short video on how to make a book binding card.
Here's a link to Lisa's blog for measurements.

Here's what the die from Our Daily Bread Designs looks like. I used two different designer series papers when die cutting. When you take the pieces out of the die there is a frame left which is what you use to fill in with your papers.

Well, that's all for today. I'll be stamping with two friends tomorrow so I'll show you what we made. I'll also show you more cards from my stamping desk.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Sue
