Out With the Old.......2007 In With the New...2008

Have you ever had someone tell you something that you couldn't get out of your mind? I know it sounds a little strange but, it happened to me just the other day. A woman came to pick up her son from my daughter's birthday party was looking at my stamping room, which is in my dining room. I told her I have a card ministry I run from my home and also started a card ministry at my church. She asked if I had time would I make a card for a woman with cancer who is 42 years young, and almost at the point of needing hospice. I told her I'd be happy to make something for her. Do you know I couldn't get that request out of my mind? I prayed about it and asked what God wanted me to do. I began to look at what I could do to help this woman feel God's love. She is a believer, but her family is not. She is surrounded by loving Christians who bring meals and help her to get through each day.
What I came up with was a Comfort and Joy basket. I filled a basket full of things that would bring her comfort and joy. Tissues wrapped with a candy cane attached, candies in a small round decorated container, bath salts in a decorated coffee bag, chocolates in a stamped clear bag with a bow, a Christian daily calendar, teas and hot chocolate in small handmade boxes and containers. A packet of handmade cards to use however she wanted, a votive candle with a vellum shade stamped with sunflowers. And a lighthouse card showing God's creation all around, letting her know that I was praying for her and hoped that the items in the basket would bring her comfort and Joy. On New Years Day at 4:30 this woman will receive this basket from her friend. I pray that God will richly bless her as she receives it. I don't know this woman but have a sense of her pain and sorrow. I pray that if given a chance, we all can make a difference in someone's life by doing a random act of kindness. I pray that this world will become a better place one random act at a time.
As we ring out 2007 and ring in 2008, may you be blessed by the One who made it all, and may you have your health and family around you. May you know God as your savior and allow Him to lead you through this world into His world.
God Bless You in 2008.

This is one of the cute stamps I ordered from High Hope Stamps. Isn't she adorable? I'm loving this Bali Breeze paper from Stampin' Up too.

This is an image I got from a friend by Stampscapes. It is on shiny cardstock and colored using daubers, cotton balls and q-tips with ink. I really like how it turned out.

This is a faux tile card with pomegranate and silver cardstock. The chapel is inked in pomegranate as well. I love the look of this with the silver framing the church.

This is from the featured stamper this week. You were to CASE the card except for several changes. I used the same colors and layout. What I changed were the images and words. I like how this came out.

This was the challenge for today, to make a negative with color card. This was fun and I used two of my favorite colors together. I like the gold with this as well.
