It's a New Year...What's New With You?

Happy New Year 2008! I used a new set yesterday to make a card for the color challenge on SCS. It was fun to play with new rubbah! I love these open images that can accommodate watercoloring. This is what I came up with using teal, real red and celery. I also did the Inspiration Challenge with the swirls and the olive and brown card. I saw the swirls and not the purple and swirls.......so I used this pretty dp for SU....I used this card to send to a soldier to let him know he's not been forgotten.

This is a card for my DH's birthday which is tomorrow Jan. 3rd. Tim turns 50 and he has some mixed feelings about that. One of his favorite things in life is coffee, and the color burgundy, so I made this card to go along with the sketch challenge today. I usually find that after the first time through a challenge and it gets easier to do the challenge. I find the same thing with new stamps. Once I've experimented with the stamps ideas begin to flow and I can make something. Of course looking through the SCS galleries doesn't hurt either! LOL
On a serious note, I got an email from a dear friend that my friend with breast cancer has taken a turn for the worse today. In just 4 days they've seen a rapid change in her behavior like the cancer has affected her brain. She couldn't talk and make sense today and they are not sure she knows who they are anymore. Please pray for Lynn and her family that they don't suffer much more with this cancer.
My kids and I talk each evening after reading our devotional. Tonight we talked about what we'd want to change or do in this year to bring us closer to God. My 11 year old said she wanted to read her Bible each day. (She got a journal from a dear friend that will help her with that.) My 13 year old said he wanted to be more involved at church in a ministry with kids. He's always been good with kids. He's a magnet for young kids.......We prayed about it and we'll see where God leads us.
I said I wanted to be more positive about my homework in the Beth Moore series I'm doing. I want to look at it as an opportunity not homework.
Tomorrow I go back to work after being off for two weeks........two days of work, two days off. Sounds good to me. Better yet, lets get dumped on with snow and take two more days off plus the weekend!
Enjoy all of God's blessings big and small until we meet again.

Well, gee, it was nice visiting with you in your post -- Happy BD to your DH and good luck back at school!!! I will pray for your friend and her family -- how very sad. Love your cards! I did not see purple in that IC dress either - I saw brown -- I was so surprised to see all the purple swirly cards in that gallery -- must be my monitor -- LOL!!! Well, have a great day!!!

Gorgeous cards!
Happy b-day late to your dh. My dh turned 50 last month. Everyone's resolutions sounds good. I'll be thinking of you as I'm hoping to start the Beth Moore Bible study on Daniel too. One of the local churches is starting it next week and I'm hoping to get in on it.
