How Do I Love SNOW Days? Let me Count the Ways!
This is a card I created for a double challenge on Splitcoast. The first was the color challenge of using grays with yo-yo yellow. The second challenge was to use this layout and have a flower on the left side. I started this card for the color challenge and it wasn't going together right. Then I saw the sketch challenge and I knew what to do. I used my large and small oval punches to punch out the ovals to enable the gray to come through. I didn't want the yellow to overpower ya know? I do like this yellow though. Gray is very hard for me to use. I'm more of a gotta have light and sunshine kind of person so yellow fits my personality better than gray.
I love the Flourishes heart so I used it to stamp the flower petals. Then I cut them out and added them to the top of the first layer of petals. I liked the saying for this too and used it diagonally across the bottom gray layer of the card. I'd like to try this layout again with another flower; a sunflower maybe? LOL It's been a while since I stamped a sunflower!
We had an unexpected though VERY appreciative day off due to weather. The kids had no heat in their school. Our district closed because of power outages due to the high winds we had. There were high winds, low temps and ice to contend with so we got the day off! Woohoo! It was so funny though. We sat watching the tv to see the names of our schools over and over like we were basking in the fact that we had a FREE day! It was funny that we were all doing the same thing, just waiting for the names to come across the screen one more time......
The kids are working on research projects; one is working on Jane Goodall and the other is researching rainforests and the affects of destroying them. So they were busy today.
I actually got a two-hour nap! I never take naps but lately I've been burning the midnight oil, so it's catching up with me. It was nice to do something nice for myself on such a busy day.
I was busy working on conference forms for tomorrow night, state forms for alternate testing of my students, my lesson plans and grading papers. So I figured it was time to do something for myself; take a nap.
Hubby got another wall of the basement wallpapered. I'm thinking this weekend we'll be able to move into the basement again. Should be fun. We haven't had a basement for a month and the kids are going crazy not having a place to throw the ball around and run around.
I continue to thank God for a husband who works so hard all day at his job and works in the evening to finish projects like this. I'm blessed and I hope you are too. Hugs and blessings until we meet again.

Snow days!!! I know exactly that excitement. Even hot cocoa tastes better on snow days. And soon you'll be in your basement! This is wonderful. Enjoy.
