From The Heart

So, my 13 year old DS is ready to go on a mission's trip tomorrow to WV. He will be home Saturday. He is going with middle school students and high school students from our church. Here's the second poem he wrote to me which made me cry. See what you think.....

Light

It was a dark and cold time during the day
Many of us did not know what to say.
We heard your footsteps on the ground,
We saw your cheeks rosy and round.
You bring us light to our life
cutting the darkness away like a knife.
The light was brought in, the dark shed away,
And now we want you to stay.
To give us comfort when we are sad
To help us through things when we are mad
You are our Mom through and through
And as you can see, we really need you.

As you can see, this speaks to the mother in me and here's my response.

So I gave him a hug and shed some tears,
wondering what God would do with him over the years.
What will become of my sensitive guy?
Do you know? Neither do I.
I'm confident in the one who is up above,
to keep him safe and fill him with His love.

Thanks for stopping by today. I have two days left of teaching and then I'll be able to stamp, stamp, stamp for the summer!
