Veterans Day and 2 Rakes

Today is Veteran's Day, a day to honor those who have fought for our country or are still fighting for our country.  What an amazing thing they do each and every day.  Could you pack yourself up and move half way across the world to a hostile environment without your family at a fraction of your regular job pay, and stay there and miss family events for months at a time?  I couldn't and give these individuals so much credit.  I feel for their families as well.  They have to carry on here on less income and more worry.  Being a parent is very hard, and being a single parent is near impossible.  Thank you to all who have or are currently serving.  May God be with you and your family here in the states.

Here is a sweet card made for Technique Lovers Challenge.  You were to do paper piecing on your card and include washi tape as well.  I paper pieced this little girl's dress.  I used washi tape to make the bow.
2 Rakes
I spent an hour raking up leaves with Tim today in the drizzle and cool weather.  I wore no coat and was sweating.  Years ago when we were newly married and living in our Parma home with lots of trees, we had to go to the store to get a rake.  As we got near the rakes, Tim stopped, found what he wanted and proceeded to put 2 rakes into the cart.  I was dumbfounded.  I couldn't figure out why he needed 2 rakes.  Really, I didn't get it.  LOL  So I asked him why we needed to get 2 rakes?  He proceeded to stand there with his eyes of surprise and his mouth opened wide deciding what to say and wonder if I was serious or kidding.  He told me it was so EACH of us could rake leaves.  I was thinking HE was kidding, because HE was the man and HE would do the outside stuff like that.  I'd help mow the lawn, garden, pull weeds, but raking was HIS job!  Obviously we'd not talked about this. We still got 2 rakes much to my dismay.  In time that rake was used by me and each time I'd get it out I'd hear the story of 2 rakes.
Some days are so easy and some are so hard.  Today seemed like a middle of the road kind of day.  Sarah and I went to her Dr. appt. then went to buy the things for our Shoebox Christmas gifts.  We had two boxes to fill with fun stuff for a little child across the world who will receive a present for the first time and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We've been doing this for many years.  Each year Ben and Sarah would each pack a shoe box and we'd send it to Operation Christmas Child, a Billy Graham organization.  Lately they have been able to track your shoe box and you find out where the shoe box went.   It's pretty cool to do this.  This year I filled Ben's box for a young boy.  It just wasn't the same but I wanted to do it just the same.

These words bring me comfort.

Blessing of the Day: Sarah and I filled two shoeboxes for children across the world.  I'm praying that these children will be blessed by these gifts and be introduced to Jesus Christ and learn who he is and how important it is to have him in their life.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
