And The Rain Came Pouring Down.....

....And the rain came roaring down....Friday, July 5th, we got more than 4 inches of rain in an hour. We had a river of water bursting through the back yard. It came around the pool from both directions. There's a drain back there but it just couldn't keep up with all the rain.

This picture shows the water going downhill past the neighbor's houses. It also was going off to the right to a street drain. We are fortunate that we live near the top of the hill on our street. The hill was graded so the water runs away from our homes.
Many people in our area and in the area just north of us were dealing with flooding in basements. We had a nursing home nearby that flooded. In some areas to the north, videos showed people in canoes and kyaks.
Thanking God for his protection during this storm.

This was a color challenge from SCS. The colors were rococo rose, soft sea foam, and vanilla. I did a watercolor wash then stamped on the sea foam. I added the daisies and added the designer series paper and ribbon.
This is a challenge for Crafters of Faith. Here's the challenge:
Scripture: Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Challenge: Make a card that uses something you’ve saved.

I made the centerpiece to this card weeks ago and didn't like it for the project I was working on, so I put it away. I started my card with a white strip of paper to put the ribbon on, then add my centerpiece. To make the flower center, I used my distressing tool and shredded curry paper then glued it to the center with liquid glue. It feels like flock.

This is a card we made in my class this week. I showed the ladies how to ink up an embossing folder to get two different results.

This is a pull flap card from Tammy White's blog. I made mine smaller than Tammy's so it would fit into an A2 envelope.

This is another watercolor wash using a new color called pretty peacock. I show my class that they could use shimmer white cardstock to watercolor on.
This is the same technique as above, but I used another new color called rococo rose. I also showed different centers on these flowers. If you use a distressing tool or scissors, you can grate the paper into small pieces that resemble flock. This can be glued to the flowers as flower center. I showed them how to color pearls, rhinestones and other accessories with alcohol markers to match their projects.

This was the 3D project we made. It was from Sam Pootles blog. She specializes in 3D items more than cards.

Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 10:12-13

This is a new song by Danny Gokey. I like the message and the beat.

Blessing of the Day: We have air conditioning. On days like this, I'm so thankful for it. Yesterday we have friends over for dinner and swimming. We then settled in to watch the All Star Game. We had a great night.

Thank you for stopping by.
Blessings,
