The Simple Woman's Daybook started here.
Looking out my window it's sunny again after another thunderstorm. It was our second one. It chased me out of the pool. As soon as I hear thunder, I'm out of there.
I am thinking that I won't complain with the heat we have. We have air conditioning and a pool. We've waited almost a month for summer to arrive! No complaining here!
I am thankful that Tim continues to work on our room. He is making a complex wainscoting pattern for our room. In order to do that he had to level things. He showed me how far off the walls were from top to bottom. When they were built, it was a development that went up at the same time, so many were made, quickly. This is a sample of approximately how tall the wainscoting will be. I can't wait to see it when it is done.
One of my favorite things is swimming in the pool in our backyard. It is such a calm and relaxing time for me. I swim laps and use the noodle or kick board then rest on the raft. It's amazing every time I'm on the raft and looking up at a beautiful, blue sky, I think of how grateful I am for what I've been given by God.
I am creating a granny-square afghan. This is a sample where the squares get bigger each round. I'm using different colors.
I am wearing jeans, flowered shirt and flip flops.
I just finished reading The Healing by Wanda Brunstetter. I enjoy reading Amish fiction. It's interesting because this author weaves Amish life into her books. She even includes an Amish recipe that was in the book.
I am hoping to hear from my twin tonight. We haven't talked in a while since she's been working again. She's caring for a woman in her home whenever she's needed.
I am learning that so many people have far bigger problems than I do. I'm in a Thursday morning Life Group. We're studying contentment. We share praises and prayer requests before we do the study. I leave that group feeling burdened but thankful.
In my kitchen there are 3 soft bananas waiting to be made into banana nut bread. I'm hoping tomorrow is the day I have the energy to do that.
In the school room I continue to learn things each day. Today I learned how important leveling is for a project. Everything depends on the first area to be level or your project ends up looking wonky and not lined up correctly. I like to watch some of the videos Tim watches that teach him how to do things. One time we learned how to install a shower floor!
In my garden flowers are blooming and produce is growing. Grands love the strawberries we pick. We put it with angel food cake and whipped cream the other day. YUM! Try explaining to a 3 yr. old why it's called, angel food......
This is the regular sized ruffle violet blooming at the same time. There is a third violet just beginning to bloom as well. My grandmother used to grow beautiful violets and cacti.
Our challenge was to make a card with red, white and blue. Dessert was patriotic. I stamped the image with memento tuxedo black ink then colored it with copic markers. I stamped the red star, then the blue star. I covered the right and left star with scotch tape then stamped the center star in white ink. I removed the tape then stamped the center star in white.
This shows the foam shapes I cut from dies I had. I inked the foam shapes with navy ink and stamped with them. I just got myself 7 more stamps to use with this stamp/die set from Stampin' Up.
Last night I found that one of my flower dies cuts out a flower on the designer series paper for the Magnolia collection. Once again something to share with my customers.
This card was for this week's sketch challenge on Splitcoastampers.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut the flowers. I turned the sketch sideways to go with the paper I chose. I added the ribbon and dry embossed the two pink pieces. I added rhinestones to each flower.
The challenge today was to make a floral tag card using this tutorial.
I punched out the tag end then added gorgeous grape paper behind it and cut a purple layer. I punched a hole in the top then added the ribbon. I stamped the flower, leaf and butterflies then put the card together.
Here is a tutorial for how to do this duoprinting technique. I started with a fern from a floral arrangement. I ran it through my big shot and I got this.
After this dried, I stamped it and added it to the card base.
Verse of the Day: Proverbs 21:2
Blessing of the Day: Tim got more work done on our room. There is so much intricate work that I know I'd have stopped long ago! That's the difference between us. We had a hot day and had air conditioning to keep us comfortable.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Bensarmom
