Friends, Cards, Faith

Stamping today with my friend, Louise. She brought projects for us to make.  I was amazed at how different they were.
The first project was this candy box. She already had the little box made. We folded the center flower, added the belly band and decorated with a snowflake.  Isn't this cute? She sent a link to the video for this box. You have to advance the video about half way to get to the video.

Do you remember when making match books were popular? I haven't made one in a lot of years. This was fun. The reindeer was fun to make. I had googly eyes and red wink of stella. Louise loved the eyes and giggled each time she looked at the completed project.

This was called a tepee card. I've never made one of these either. This is for Christmas. She had another sample where only two sides were decorated. The third side had white cardstock for the greeting and signature. Here is a video of this type of card.

This is my card for Louise to make today.  Isn't this just the cutest little guy? A friend gave me this stamp set from Stampin' Up called, Christmas Cuties. It is retired and I remember hesitating to buy it because I'd only use this little guy. He brought back memories of  Cleveland winters. This was colored with Copic markers.

If you look closely, you will see the little design element in front of the boy. This is an easel card. What fun, Louise said she's never made and easel card before! I added SU puff paint to the hat and shimmery crystal effects for the ground and over his boots.
Here's a Christmas Tree luminary for December's class. Louise has a friend who loves Moose. Our moose punch has sold out and Louise can no longer get it. I told her instead of a tree, I'll have a moose cut out for her. They she could give it to her friend. She loved the idea!

I'm trying to keep fall alive here in Ohio. I brought in several strawberry plants to see if I could grow strawberries inside so my grands could see and pick them. This strawberry was on the plant when I brought it in. It was lots of fun watching how quickly it turned red. It was pretty good to eat too.
This is my mini african violet. It sits in a south-east window and loves it! My grandmother used to grow violets. This reminds me of her. Maybe some day I'll bring her plant table down and use it for my violets.

It's been a long association with South Carolina Juvenile Justice System. I sent my last batch of cards and supplies to them. Being retired I can no longer afford to make 150 cards a month and ship them.
It's so interesting that God is right in the mix of this.
I Make Cards For DJJ South Carolina
This ministry came to an end this week. Monday, God brought a new ministry to me. A gal in my class continues a card ministry that I started at a church called, Royal Redeemer. It was 12 or 13 years ago.  When we left that church, Ingrid took over the ministry.  So I will help Ingrid with her card ministry after hearing that she's having a hard time getting people to help make cards. God, you are amazing!
The best thing is I can help make cards and it's a local ministry so I don't have to ship anything.

Verse of the Day:Psalm 124:4-5

A dear friend sent this to me. It is a great encouragement if you are facing difficulties in your life. I added it to my list of encouraging music to listen to when I'm down. I hope it encourages you.

Blessing of the Day: I got to stamp with Louise. I got lots of errands done. I got another book from the library.  I'm seeing that after watching a tv show or 2, it really affects my mood. I'm dropping recording of some shows I've watched, and going to read more.

A friend of mine told me about a FB group called, Christian Book Devourers. It has brought lots of good, Christian books into my hands. I love getting back to reading. It's like that old commercial, Calgon, Take Me Away. Books do the same thing for me.

Thank you for stopping by.
Blessings,
Bensarmom
