Splitcoaststampers is a great website for people who make cards or scrapbook. They have daily challenges. This is one of the challenges.
Giovanna challenged us to make a birthday creation. I love making cards, so that's what I made. I'm in love with the new designer series paper from Stampin' Up called, Thoughtful Journey. I used that as the base of my card. I used the seaside Wishes hybrid folder which cuts and embosses at the same time, for my sand dollars. I brushed them with petal pink then Wink of Stella. I die cut the other pieces and added color. I used dimensionals to add the small sand dollar. The birthday wishes sentiment is from another new stamp set from Stampin' Up called, Simply Said. I added In-Color shimmer gems around the sentiment.
Lisa's challenge was to make a fancy fold card. This is an easy card to make. Base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Designer paper is 5 1/4" x 5 3/4" score at 1 3/4". Another piece of designer paper which is 2 1/2" x 3 3/4". The blackberry cardstock is 4" x 5 1/2" scored at 2 5/8". Add white cardstock in the inside which is 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"
This card is one where the designer paper makes the card. I stamped the greeting, punched it out with the Decorative Circle Punch, then used a dauber to add ink around the outside. I colored plain rhinestones with a Copic Marker then added it to my card.
Mary challenged us to use Boho Blue, Calypso Coral and Pecan Pie. The dessert option was to use designer series paper.
I immediately thought of this gorgeous designer paper. It has boho blue and calypso coral which was a bonus. I die cut the trees with Pecan Pie cardstock. Then I cut the leaves from the designer series paper and die cut it. I stamped the sentiment on the large leaf. The two smaller leaves were added with dimensionals. Then I added brass embellishments.
This grouping of 15 cards is for a Facebook Group I belong to called, Kendra's Card Challenges.
Kendra gives you the dimensions of the designer series paper to cut out and the layouts of the cards. You then use your paper and own ideas to customize it to your style.
I used Dandy Garden designer series paper for many of the cards. This paper was given to me by a friend. It wasn't something I wanted to buy, but I liked the cards it made.
My friend Jan has a Card Ministry for a Nursing Home near her. We both make cards for the residents to use. We were asked to make kids birthday cards. Here are four of my cards. I had so much fun doing these because I could use any stamps I have. I do have lots of stamps that aren't Stampin' Up. I love cute animal stamps.
Jan and I have very similar tastes in stamps we like. We make very different cards however. She likes to make a scene with many of her cards. I like to piece together images, designer series paper and dry embossing.
Today as I tried to go back to making cards, my sweet cat Chloe showed me it was time for a break. She really is a people cat. She is a munchkin cat. These cats are bred to want to be around people kind of like dogs. Most of the time it's great. Today, I have lots to do so I can't spend the afternoon with a snoozing cat on my desk. LOL
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Bensarmom
