Black Ice Technique

Have you ever heard of the Black Ice Technique in cardmaking?

You Begin with a metallic piece of paper. It can be gold, silver, copper, champagne. Use removeable tape and tape it to your work surface.

Drag a black Stazon ink pad across your metallic paper.  I tried doing this vertically on one card and horizontally on another card.

Stamp your image(s) with Stazon ink.  Use heat tool to make sure ink is dry.

Lightly drag Versamark pad across metallic paper.  Add clear embossing powder and heat set.

Layer your image and add to your card base.

In my first card, I used the Lost Lagoon color of plaid with lost lagoon card stock behind my image. I angled my image so I could stamp my sentiment at the top, on an angle.

I used the reverse side of the designer series paper at the bottom for the sentiment.

Check out the video of the Black Ice Technique.

Here are two samples.

The second card I made I swiped the Stazon ink horizontally across my metallic paper. I used two smaller pieces of metallic paper thinking I might use them separately. However, I liked them better together, so I left them that way.
I flipped the designer series paper over to give contrast to the card for the sentiment.  The sentiment is not Stampin' Up and the Tree Images are from the retired Stampin' Up set called, Lovely As A Tree.

Supplies I used: Click on the images for more information about each product.
