Sea Turtles
This month in class I had my classes make the first card. I like to make samples if I have time so I made samples showing different ways to use these two-step stamps. These stamps are also reversable. You can stamp a solid image from one side and a detailed image from the other side.
This first card is one of the cards we made in class this month. We used the stamp set called, Sea Turtles. It is in the Last Chance List so when it's gone, it's gone.
The description and directions to make this are on my April Class Follow-up post found here.
I colored my paper with water base markers then added water and blended with my flat brush. I dried my paper and added the plants with versamark. I used my flat brush with water to take away some of the color then dried it with my heat tool. I stamped and added my turtles and sentiment.
For this card I played around with stamping only in the center of the card. This is so out of my comfort zone. That's why I challenge myself to try new things. I learn to do what is difficult and soon it isn't as difficult!
I used Boho blue ink for the bubbles, coastal cabana for the fish and Pretty Peacock for the grasses. The starfish were stamped with Sahara sand full strength, then stamped off once.
The turtle was stamped with soft sea foam and pretty peacock. The turtle was curled a bit with my bone folder then added to the card with dimensionals.
When I think of turtles, I often think of the large numbers hatching then crawling through the sand to the sea. That's what inspired this next card. These two made it! According to documentaries I've seen, not so many make it to the sea.
For this card, I mixed coastal cabana and boho blue for the bubbles. Once they were stamped, I used a blending brush with boho blue to fill in the white spaces. The sand was made using a piece of torn paper and a blending brush with Sahara Sand ink. To see how this technique is done, check out this video.
The turtles were made with lemon lime ink and garden green. The turtles were fussy cut and curled with a bone folder. They were added to the card base with dimensionals. I added Paper Glaze to the turtles to make them appear wet.
For this last card, I tried to use different colors to show movement and how due to vegetation and things in the water, it can look like different colors.
This card was made by stamping the turtle in pretty peacock, then covering it with a mask so I could stamp the bubbles. The bubbles are stamped with boho blue, coastal cabana and lemon lime twist. I took off the turtle mask then stamped the turtle with Versamark and added clear embossing powder so he looked wet.
Check out some real turtles heading for the ocean. Have a wonderfully blessed day.
