From The Beach To a Cuppa Cocoa

 Hey Everybody,

Today we're doing a color challenge. Can you guess the colors without looking at the link? The challenge was to use

Are your ready for a real coastal splash

Mary's color challenge can be found here. There was an option to make it a Christmas card. I took that challenge as well as the color challenge.

I used a digital image that was given to me. I couldn't decide if this was supposed to be a snowman or a polar bear. Since he had a round nose, I made him a polar bear! LOL
Anyway, he was colored with markers. I added puffy paint on the white stripes and snow dots.

I fussy cut the cup and added the peppermints. I knew what embossing folder I wanted to use for this. It's one of two I have for Christmas or Winter cards.

I dry embossed the background to look like a sweater. Then I punched the sentiment out and layered it with red. It got peppermints as well. I added the image and sentiment panels with dimensionals.

Keywords: CC1059
Stamps: Magical Meadow
Paper: white, real red, Impression Obsession-Watercolor Poinsettias
Paper Size: A2
Ink: real red
Accessories: Puffy fabric paint, assorted peppermints, Copic Markers, Stampin' Write Marker, Graph-O marker, Tim Holtz Deer Knit embossing folder, scissors, SU-To The Point Punch
Techniques: coloring, dry embossing

What do you think? Have you ever worked with digital images?  I enjoy working with them because you can change their size. I can print several on a page or make the image just the size I want it.

I download an image to my computer. I have a folder on my desktop that is labeled, digital images.

Whenever I download an image it goes into that folder.  In that folder, I have other folders that are labeled by either company name or category. I sometimes get digital images from Gerda Steiner. So there is a folder in my digital image file that is labeled, Gerda Steiner images.

I have animals, holidays, birthday, sentiments and all sorts of things in those files.  It was interesting to look through those images the other day. Some were so old that the style was obviously from years ago when stamps were simpler or had a country look.

Stamped images have come a long way.  Once I decide what image I want to use for a card, I copy/paste it into a Word document and size it as large or small as I'd like.  In a Word document, you can have rulers show at the top and side so you can make your image the size you want it.

I put a light weight white cardstock into my printer and print the image. Then I use whatever I'd like to color the image.  Before I color the image, I look for designer series paper to use. The colors I use on the image come from those in the designer series paper.  It's always easier to find the paper first, then to color an image then go in search of paper with the colors you used.  Ask me how I know. LOL

Well, check out some of the stamp sites you go to and see if they have free digital images.

Here's another way you can grow in your card making skills.  There are many videos on how to find, download, store and use digital images. You can become an expert in no time.

Sometimes I do a search for certain things as a line drawing. Today for a challenge, I wanted a shark, since I didn't have any shark stamps.  I found one I could use and printed it on white cardstock.

Well, once again, we're at the end of our visit here. I hope you learned something and enjoyed our time together.

Blessings,

Sue
