Kia's challenge for us today can be found here. Inspiration for my card I embossed my very vanilla cardstock using the Sunflower 3D embossing folder. On the debossed side, I used 1" ink cubes to drag across the paper to add my color. I found it was much easier to use different colors with the smaller ink cubes. I added the vanilla cardstock to old olive, then to the daffodil delight card base. I used the Stampin' Up Metallic Textures Rub-Ons down the side of my card to mimic the silver chain on the necklace in the photo of my inspiration. I punched out my paper with the tab punch, then cut it in half to use on my card.
165270 $13.50The metallic run-ons are similar to rub-ons of years ago except instead of different colors, they are silver and gold. These can easily be rubbed onto your paper with your fingers. No need to use a bone folder or stick. We used to get a popsicle like stick to use with the rub-ons years ago. 166145 |
I have to say once I got started using this folder, I kept thinking of different colors of paper I could use then different combinations of ink colors once I saw how some of the colors worked so well together.
As I was making these, I pulled the ink over both sides to see how different they would look. I think for most of them I liked the debossed side better, but for some, it was a tie. That surprised me.
It was amazing how different certain colors looked just by putting them on different colored cardstock.
I also used this embossing folder and ink technique with designer series paper. I will be busy making sunflower cards for a couple of days for sure!
So, it's off to put those sunflowers onto card bases.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Blessings,
Sue
