Masking and Flicking

 Hey Everybody,

Here's another challenge for you today. Nancy's challenge for the Free 4 All challenge is, to use a fence. Check it out here.

I stamped the fence which was from a Gerda Steiner stamp set, first using crumb cake ink. I covered the fence with a post-it note and stamped the raccoon above the fence. I covered the side of the fence and stamped the bunny to the side. Covering the fence like I did is called, masking.

Here's a video from Stampin' Up which demonstrates some masking techniques.

I used a green Copic Marker to make grass by flicking my marker up quickly to make lines that look like grass.

Here is a video done by Sandi MacIver which demonstrates how to do the flicking stroke when you are coloring an image. I love how simple and easy she makes it look.

The images are from a Unity stamp set called, Windowsill Woodlands. They were colored with Copic Markers.

I used a blending brush and a cut out of a cloud to make the clouds in the sky. I stamped the sentiment in balmy blue. This card will go to a local hospital and be put on a dinner tray.

Keywords: F4A808
Stamps: Gerda Steiner-Hoppiness, Unity-Windowsill Woodlands
Paper: white, balmy blue
Paper Size: A2
Ink: crumb cake, balmy blue
Accessories: cloud cut out, blending brushes, post-it note, copic markers
Techniques: masking, ink blending

So now that you've seen how to mask an image and to color an image with flicking, what might you have in your stash for adding a fence to your card?

One thing you might have is a die cut of a fence. You could also make your own fence with designer series paper or cardstock.

Here's an easy way to make a fence. Cut strips of cardstock then cut points at the top of each. Cut 2 long, thin strips of paper and attach your fence pieces to it.  That's all there is to making your own fence.

Hopefully with some of these ideas, you'll be able to find something in your stash that you can put together for a card today.

It's been great to have you visit today.

Blessings,

Sue
