Fall Leaves

 Hey Everybody,

Lisa's challenge is to bring on Fall. You can find it here.
I stamped pineapple leaves first at the bottom of the cardstock. Next I stamped pumpkin pie up a bit, partially covering the pineapple colored leaves. Then I stamped the cherry cobbler leaves partially on top of the pumpkin pie leaves. Then I stamped the sentiment. The white panel was added to a poppy parade cardbase.

Keywords: WT1073 fall leaves Autumn
Stamps: SU Soft Seedlings, Fall sentiments
Paper: white, poppy parade
Paper Size: A2
Ink: pineapple punch, pumpkin pie, cherry cobbler, memento tuxedo black
Techniques: overlap stamping

This is the retired Stampin' Up set I used for this card.  You'll notice it a solid image. That's what gives this card its beauty. You'll notice that I began with the lightest color at the bottom, then went with the medium color and ended with the darkest color at the top.

I played with this a bit before I made the card. I tried overlapping different amounts of the leaves and came up with something I liked.

Do you remember the different things you'd do with leaves growing up?

How about this?  Did you put leaves between waxed paper and iron them?  We did this then we'd hang them up in the windows so proud of our creations.

Check out this video. This woman shows you how to preserve leaves and actually be able to use them. She presses them between waxed paper and heats the waxed paper. Then she pulls the waxed paper apart to reveal leaves that are shiny and preserved.  I never did this but it looks like a fun thing to do with my granddaughter.  We might have to wait until next year as we have several inches of snow on the ground right now. LOL

Growing up did you have to do a leaf collection as a science project?  We did and we loved going to the park to get leaves we didn't have in our neighborhood.

I haven't used leaves on a card in a long time. I might have to try to add wax to a few leaves then use them on a card. I'll have to give that some thought.
I remember collecting fresh leaves for a challenge here. You sandwiched them between two pieces of white cardstock and ran them through your Big Shot embossing machine. The rollers would press the leaves and the moisture or juice in the stems would come out and you'd see the shape of the leaf. It was a green image.

What ideas do you have for stamping leaves or using real leaves? I'd love to hear your ideas.
Thanks for stopping by today.
I'll see you next time.
Blessings,
Sue
