We're in Maine

Well we made it, we're in Maine.  We had a long, long drive but it went pretty well.  It seemed like there were many times where traffic came to a crawl on the freeway.  No obvious reason, but it sure did slow us down.  It took closer to 13 hours to get here.
We drove onto the Ferry about 6:45 p.m. and arrived in pouring rain at the house.  It's interesting how on an island there aren't street signs where the houses are, we had to use the owners written instructions to get here.  You know, go to the fork in the road and turn right.
Here are a few pictures from this morning as I woke early and couldn't get  back to sleep.

We went to the grocery store in town to get the few things that we didn't bring.  It's a good thing we brought a  lot of our food.  It seemed expensive at the store, but don't know what food runs in Maine anyway.  We're on an island so it's a little more costly.

We drove around to see the island today.  We didn't walk or bike today as the temps were near 90 degrees.  They don't usually get weather this hot so there is NO air conditioning!!!!  I've been in the den with a small fan at the deck door to pull in cool air.  Sitting still I was sweating...............miserable start to a vacation.
By Wednesday it is supposed to cool down.

We walked around the 'beach' which is filled with big and little rocks and hard to get from place to place.  It was low tide so it was fun to see what was under all of the water we watched earlier in the day.  It's low tide until around 9 a.m. then not again until around 6 p.m.  We did see lots of rocks that looked like wood.  You'd try to pick them up and realize they were heavy rocks not wood!

I got a long nap this afternoon by the fan of course.  It's nice to be on vacation where taking a nap doesn't make you feel guilty, ya know?

Time for family time.
Blessing of the Day:I found a fan to keep me cool.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Bensarmom
