Happy 2nd Birthday Operation Write Home

Operation Write Home is celebrating its birthday this month and today they are having a Birthday Bash Card Class.  When you donated to help with shipping costs you got a stamp set from My Favorite Things and ribbon.  I got Monkey Business.  The ribbon I got was Bella! Ribbonz in blues and brown.

I finished two cards today. One of the cards is from a card sketch and the other one is my idea.  The first card is the sketch for the monkey stamp.  I used memento black ink and Copic Markers.  I didn't have the markers Sandy had for her demo, so I had to improvise.  I rounded one corner and sponged a border around the image with baked brown sugar.  The card base is turquoise with a Darice folder called basket weave. I then used my round and scallop punches to layer brown and turquoise as well as sponge all the edges.  I stamped the text and cut it and sponged it to add to the smallest circle.  I used the brown ribbon with the flowers on it which you can't really see.  The circle and image were attached with dimensionals.

This second card I used baked brown sugar paper with basket weave embossing folder and sponging on the edges.  I had a filmstrip paper in my stash so I added the picture of the cute monkey in one and a saying in the other.  I wove the ribbon through the sections using the ribbon I received with my set.  I stamped the text in brown and stamped bananas in yoyo yellow.

I'm going to get a lot of use out of this cute stamp set.  I needed stamps for boys too.  Thanks OWH for this fun event.
Blessings,
