The Simple Woman's Daybook February 13, 2021

 For Today February 13, 2021

This is where it all began

Looking out my window, it is dark. It has been cold but sunny these days. I never complain about the sun being out, except when it shines on the snow and is reflected back. It is so bright it gives me headaches. I have to partially close the curtains. That will change as the snow melts.

I am thinking, that February is a fun month for us. Brianna's 32nd birthday was Feb. 11th. Ben's 26th birthday is February 16th.  Ben's wife, Rachel has a birthday in March.  We have Valentine's Day tomorrow. I made a few boxes and put hot chocolate and coffee cake in a mug in each box. So Ben, Brianna and Rachel will each have a fun snack for Valentine's Day. I used some heart tins from last year and filled them with Hershey Kisses. I added a heart on the top too. They each got their own Valentine card. Ben and Rachel are married, and often I send a card for both of them.

I am thankful that Tim can do so many things around the house. He is currently working on putting a bathroom and a kitchenette in the basement.

One of my favorite things is drinking raspberry coffee with chocolate creamer. It's almost better than chocolate raspberry candy, but not quite.

I am creating an afghan, more scarves, and an afghan that is from Christmas. Every month I receive 3 skeins of yarn and video and printed directions for crocheting 3 new sections of the afghan with different stitches. I am on the second sets of yarn doing sections 4-6. This has been amazing to do! Thank you Tim!

I am wearing a black shirt, jeans, shoes and socks. I hate wearing shoes and socks.

I am listening to the ticking of  my grandfather's mantle clock. Tim had it fixed for me as a Christmas gift early in our marriage. It is just wonderful to listen to it chime and think of him and my grandmother.  I have to wind it in two places about every 5 days or so.

I am hoping to get some time to relax soon. This week has been very busy with three classes to teach, and one day to stamp with a friend. It would have been more enjoyable and less stressful if her iPad kept disconnecting. We had to constantly call each other back to finish our cards.  We each make 2 card and swap them before our stamping day. Then we each walk the other through how to make the cards.  I had a headache by the time we finished.  She was very sorry that she had this problem. I wanted to stay on the video with her. She's partially deaf and doesn't have many friends  to stamp with.

I am learning that God is giving me lots of opportunities to practice patience, lately. I don't recall asking Him for more patience. LOL  Lately DH has been looking tirelessly for an appointment for me to get my COVID shot. In our area, all appointments are full. I don't know how many places I'm signed up for. It makes him happy. I know he does this because he loves me. I on the other hand have said, it doesn't matter when I get a shot. I'm still going to be stuck in the house with this cold, winter weather. I still won't be able to visit my kids and friends.

In my kitchen we will be making chicken pot pie and something new for us, biscuits and gravy casserole. Should be interesting with the biscuits and gravy.

In the school room I continue to learn things on-line and on TV. Did you know that cows only have lower teeth in the front of their mouth?  We were watching a show on Amazon Prime called, Tudor Monastery Farm. We're learning history and different kinds of facts like, they didn't bathe with water. They were afraid that the germs in the water would find a cut or some way into their body, and they'd die. They drank ale and ate a lot of bread.

In my garden it is covered with snow. My inside plants are growing very well. We have grow lights in several areas. My daughter-in-law had to give me lots of her plants since she didn't have room for them in the house they are renting.  I told her she'd better be careful, I'm loving some of these plants, so she might not get them all back.

 A moment from my day

Here is the inspiration for my card from the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge. I chose the hydrangeas and the blue pail as my inspiration.

Here is my double-fold card. It is mostly Hydrangea Hill designer series paper. I used Sea and Sand designer series paper for the sentiment. The sentiment if from Friends Are Like Seashells.

This morning as I was getting dressed, I had company. The shower door was open and Chloe decided it should be her turn in the shower! LOL

Verse of the Day: Psalm 71:8

This song really spoke to me today. It's called, The Reason For The World, by Matthew West.

Blessing of the Day- Tim saw a few bluebirds. We've never seen them around here. They may be passing through.  We got to see Ben. He picked up the things I had for Him, Rachel and Brianna for birthdays and Valentine's Day. Then he called me when he got home for a video chat so I could watch them open their gifts. What a wonderful kid! Lord, I'm so thankful for him.
We finally got the delivery we've been waiting for since Tuesday.

Thank you for stopping by.
Blessings,
Bensarmom

I have not yet seen the Tudor Manor Farm, but I have watched the Victorian Farm twice, and the Tudor Christmas one. I would love to try a pie like they did then, no pan. Blessings!

Pocket Front Card

This was today's challenge on Splitcoaststampers, Ways To Use It Challenge. Sabrina challenged us to make pockets.  I used the tutorial...
