Two Greens and a Yellow-What to do? What to do?

 Hey Everybody,

I'm back again with a color challenge.  How would you use these colors?

ANY 4TH COLOR

DESSERT THIS WEEK IS OUR CHRISTMAS IN JULY THEME- ONE LAST SHOT AT EARLY CHRISTMAS CARDS!

Keywords: CC1063 Christmas
Stamps: Season Like Christmas, Sheet Music
Paper: white, cherry cobbler
Paper Size: A2
Ink: pretty peacock, shaded spruce, early espresso, cherry cobbler, pineapple punch, crumb cake
Accessories: sponge dauber, gold balls, dimensionals
Techniques: two-step stamping, stamping off(generational stamping)

Our colors were shaded spruce, pretty peacock, darling ducklings and a 4th color. My 4th color is cherry cobbler. The other colors I used were neutrals from the brown family.
First I stamped the background music in crumb cake.
Then, I stamped the shaded spruce stamp off once then stamped. Then I added pretty peacock. The trunk of the tree was stamped with early espresso. I don't have duckling so I used pineapple and stamped my lights or ornaments in yellow. I added the shadow on the ground under the trees in early espresso stamped off once.
I stamped the sentiment in cherry and used a sponge dauber with shaded spruce around the edges. I added it to the card with dimensionals. I added the gold balls just to add some Christmas sparkle.

What do you do when you see colors for a color challenge?  I saw there were two greens and we could make a Christmas card.  That made it easy to decide to stamp trees.

Then I had to look through my tree stamps. I have two sections of tree stamps. One is regular trees that I might look for if I'm making a masculine card.  The other is Christmas trees in my drawer of Christmas stamps.

The idea that this set was two-step stamping really appealed to me with the two different green colors. This set seemed perfect for this challenge.

Here's what the stamp set looks like. It is retired but I liked that it was two-step stamping so I kept it. I hadn't used it in a long time. I had to experiment with what part of the tree needed the lighter ink and which one needed the darker ink.  I also had to look at the placement of the trunk of the tree and the ornaments.  Needless to say, I played with this for a while on scrap paper before I let ink touch cardstock. LOL

When I stamped the tree it didn't look right by itself, so I stamped three. Once I had three trees the background looked empty so I thought of different things I could put in the background. I could make more trees and make it look like this is in a forest, I could add hills, clouds and the sun to make a scene behind the trees. Then I thought of snow and small hills, but since the dessert for this card was to make a Christmas card, I decided to put a music score behind the trees like we see at Christmas.

It's sometimes for me like the book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. If I stamp 3 trees then I'll need a background. I add a sun then I need something for the sun to shine on besides the trees. I add hills, then I need to put snow or trees on the hills. If I make snow, I'll have to get out my heat and stick powder and my white flock powder or my puffy paint which I apply then heat up with my heat tool.

If I use my flock, I'll need some glitter or wink of stella to make the snow sparkly. If I make the snow sparkly, I'll have snow and glitter all over my paper and desk and I'll need to take out my mini desk vacuum cleaner. If I take out my mini desk vacuum cleaner, I'll have to empty it. If I have to empty it, I'll see that the garbage is full and I need to empty that.....and on and on.

Some days it takes a long time to make a card in this house. LOL

The thought processes we use to stamp cards is involved indeed. We make so many decisions at one sitting whether we realize it or not.

Until we meet again. Enjoy your stamping whether it's to make bookmarks, cards or scrapbook pages.

Blessings,

Sue
