Teacher Appreciation Week-We've Got To Be The Light

This is Teacher Appreciation Week. A video came to all of the teachers from another teacher in the district. Take a look and listen.
I really liked it.  I wish someone could figure out a better way for education funding and delivery of services. We truly are teaching to the test and the kids are missing out on some of the fun, things they can learn because we get funds depending on how well our students do.  Not only that, within a few years how the children score will be part of our evaluation.  No where have we as a society blamed the parents for the way their child is, we blame the teacher who sees the child 7 hours or so a day.
Okay off my soap box for now.  With the way things are today I was truly wondering if I'd have gone into teaching if when I graduated from high school, things were like this, so controlled in the field of education.
Spring is my favorite time at school because we start to see all the the things we've been working on all year, start to blossom in the kids.  It becomes obvious what they've learned.  All of our hard work and effort pays off.
So today I had a student who has continually had his sister or mother do his homework.  Yes, they actually wrote on the paper and did his homework.  We've tried to get the parent and sister to stop but no luck.  Today we'd had it and my assistant, Patti, took the young man to the office to speak to the principal about this.  I'm so glad we did this.  The principal gave mom and dad a call.  She also told the boy he'd have new copies of the pages that were homework, and he'd have to finish them and hand them in by Tuesday.  She also told him he wouldn't attend our assembly Tuesday.  The kids gave all sorts of excuses to her....It's sad to see a child so young manipulating his parents.  The parents don't understand that they are not helping him by doing his homework for him.
Here is a card I made for today's sketch challenge.  I really enjoy challenges and learn so much from them.  This is one of the prettiest stamp sets I own with a flower and butterfly.  It is from Sweet & Sassy stamps.  It is called Treasured.  I used copic markers to color the image and used a dauber around the edges of the image.
Here are some of the cards I received for Summit Point today from Kay Robinson of Florida.  Aren't they just beautiful?  Thank you so much Kay for giving the residents something to smile about.

This set came in an envelope but without a return address or a note and name inside.  If you're the one who sent these, please let me know so I can thank you properly.  They are so pretty too.

Blessing from today.........We were able to give our worries and fears to God today about next year and if I'll have Patti or not.  Our husbands are so logical....it's tough when you want to be emotional ya know?  Both our husbands told us that God is in control, He's knows what you need and He's putting you where you can best serve him.  He sees the big picture and we can't begin to imagine what he has in store for us.  So after we laughed at the similarities in our husband's speeches, we got to work just trusting God with it all.
Thank you for stopping by, and reading this today.  May you be richly blessed by the God who made you.
