Color Blending and Sponge Dauber Use and Storage

 Hey Everybody,

Denise's challenge to us can be found here.

The site today is Sister Golden. My inspiration for my card is here. The print is called, Heat Wave, so that's what I named my card today.

I blended crushed curry at the top for the sky then added peach pie and a bit of pretty in pink to get the darker color at the top. I added a sticky note to cover the sky and made the waves using torn cardstock and my blending brush with azure afternoon ink. I added a bit of peach pie at the bottom, then blended more azure afternoon on top of that for the green water. I stamped the birds in memento tuxedo black ink. I dry embossed the peach pie panel and used glue to adhere it. You don't want to use adhesive on this as it will take out the corrugated folds. I added the ribbon with glue dots. I layered black behind my image panel then peach pie and my card base is azure afternoon. I ran my sentiment through my machine with gold foil and trimmed the sentiment closely. Then I used a sponge dauber to add color to the edge. I added dimensionals to attach the sentiment.

Keywords: IC1024
Stamps: Sunrise Sailing
Paper: white, peach pie, azure afternoon, black
Paper Size: A2
Ink: crushed curry, azure afternoon, peach pie. pretty in pink, memento tuxedo black
Accessories: foil, sentiment to foil, Honey Bee-Hugs and Kisses Gems, SU vanilla and black check ribbon, blending brushes, sponge dauber, SU Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder, torn cardstock, glue dots, dimensionals
Techniques: ink blending, dry embossing, heat foiling, masking

Now that we have blending brushes, I don't use my sponge daubers as much. I use them when I need to ink small areas. I store them in a desk drawer next to me so they are in easy reach when I need them.

I found a template online for this box that was blank. I also found 1" squares with the ink color names that I printed and added it to the inside of the lid behind a piece of acetate. You can see that the ink from the dauber hits the top of the case.  I used my label maker to label each dauber.

Here is a link to a free blank chart that you can add your own colors to.
Here's a video to show you how to use and store daubers.

Here is a link to all kinds of charts that you can print.
I hope these links help you with organizing and using your sponge daubers.
Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings,
Sue
