Honoring All Who Served-Veterans Day 2014

What a bittersweet day this is.  A day to remember those who have fought for this country and not returned.  A day to thank those who fought and returned home. A Day to thank those who are currently serving and missing their family terribly.

When I worked we honored Veterans by having a luncheon followed by a solemn ceremony honoring them.  Students worked hard to learn songs to sing to them, students also made power point presentations to show their gratitude.

I missed that today. I sat for a while today and looked a videos on YouTube and of course was saddened at the huge loss we've felt over the years.  Even if it wasn't someone I knew,  I teared up when watching families mourn.

I pray to God that the families that are suffering, know it isn't in vain.  We appreciate what their loved one did for his/her country.  Each one and his/her family give up so much.  They give up the presence of their loved one, and even special events in life for their country.

It takes a special kind of person to do this.  One who loves their country and truly believes in what they are doing.

I watched a video of George Bush honoring a fallen soldier by giving his family a special medal.  Pres. Bush got choked up as he invited the parents to the front to receive the medal.  He showed his humanness to all who watched.  He was truly sad for this family and hugged them like they were his family.  What an amazing man.

I liked this song as a tribute to the military forces.  Take time today to pray for those serving, pray for those families who have lost a loved one, and for those who have gone before us doing what they believed in.

Heavenly Father, please be with all who have soldiers in the military.  Surround them Father with your shield of protection.  Comfort families who are apart and help them to make the best of their current situation.  May you give them what they need to keep going.  Surround theses families with others who will help them through the hard days.  Lord only you know what each needs.  I pray that you will bless them with what they need, when they need it.  For you love us all, no matter who we are, no matter what we've done.  No one loves us like you do.
Thank you Father for all you do for us and all you give to us.
Blessings,
Sue
