Embossing Folders, Colors and Textures

 Hey Everybody,

I've been working on some Get Well cards that will be donated to Southwest General Hospital here in my area. I was experimenting with embossing folders, and colors and textures. Check out what I've come up with.

The first two bears were done by dry embossing white paper then running different color ink pads over the debossed side of the paper.  That makes the background colored and the objects are left white.  That's why the coffee cups and bricks are white.

For the Coffee Bear, I used the negative left over from using a square die. I inked it blue and put the bear behind it.  I experimented with combining azure afternoon, pecan pie and pool party on this card.  I like how the colors blended and I got some green and blue. The inside reads: Sending You a BIG Hug.

The Bear hiding behind the brick wall was colored with Copic Markers. I used a Lawn Fawn stamp set called, Simply Celebrate Hangouts, which was borrowed from a friend. (Thanks Jan) I doubled the wall and put the bear behind it peeking over.  The wall was colored with Copic Markers. The brick wall was colored with calypso coral and cajun craze inks.  The wall was added with dimensionals.  The sentiment inside reads: Hang in there, you'll be feeling better real soon.

For the watermelon card, I experimented with stamping a background instead of using an embossing folder. I wanted the whole watermelons to blend into the background. The slices of watermelon were the focus of the card.

The cute frog is peeking out of a hole in a tree made by a Stampin' Up hybrid embossing folder which embossed and cut at the same time. The frog was colored with Copic Marker then fussy cut. I placed him inside the tree and added a background behind him so it would look dark like the inside of a tree.

I used a hello die to continue the rounded shape of the circles on the tree.  Inside it says: Sending Special Get Well Wishes.

For each card texture was made with different things. The watermelon card has inked images to make the texture. The frog has dry embossing without ink for color.

The next two cards I experimented with using burlap with the embossing folders. The first card I used a swirly embossing folder to mimic rain and movement.  I tried to use a border die on the burlap. It cut it most of the way but I had to use scissors in some parts.  The duck was colored with Copic Markers. The background has daffodil delight and summer splash inks. Inside it reads: Sending you a Big Hug!

The orange and yellow chicken card is one of my favorites for showing texture. It looks like I've colored a piece of mesh material and added burlap.  I colored the debossed side of the mesh embossing folder with daffodil delight and sweet sorbet. I love the orange color I got.  I experimented with a triangle piece of burlap for the duck to stand on. The inside reads: Sending healing hugs.

These crocodiles were colored with Copic markers then added to the burlap with dimensionals. I wanted the first card to look like the croc was in the water and the second card like he was on land looking at something in the water.

The last card is a donkey with a silly expression on his face. I will have to go through my stamp sets to see what sentiments I want to use for the last three cards.

All in all, I'm please with the color and texture mixing of these cards.

Let me know which card is your favorite.  If you try this with your own supplies, let me know. I'd love to see what you created.

Blessings,

Sue
