Hey Everybody,
Today brings a sketch challenge. Kim's challenge can be found here.
Here's my card.
I cut my paper using three different patterns from the Florals in Bloom dsp. I added it to strawberry slush card base and dry embossed using SU florals in bloom embossing folder. I colored and punched out the circles. I used a dauber to add color to the image circle. I added the circles with dimensionals. The sentiment was added last. Inside reads....Sending hugs.

Do you do sketch challenges? If you were given a sketch like this, how do you figure out what sizes of paper to use?
I'll show you what I made that is very helpful for these types of cards.
I started with a full size card base as #17. I decreased the measurements a 1/4" for each card. So #16 is 4" x 5 1/4".I take the cards and place them on a full size card base of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and see which size would work best for the sketch I'm working with.
Numbering the cards is very helpful when putting them back in order. It's also helpful to know if you tried #10 and it's too big, just go down to #9.
For this sketch, I'd divide 5 1/4" by 3 since I have 3 pieces. I know I want a border around my card. When the computer divides 5 1/4" by 3 and gets 1 3/4" then I know that each piece can be 1 3/4" from top to bottom.
So, I look to see which piece is closest to that size. So I'd try #4 first to see if it will look right for the sketch.
The dark gray piece I know is going to be 4 1/4" long and about 1/3rd of the width of the card. 5 1/2" divided by 3 is between 1 3/4" and 1 7/8". So I'd probably make my piece 1 3/4" x 4 1/4".
The thing I like about this is that this tool is right in my desk drawer so it's handy and because it's handy, I use it. That's the reason we make tools right? It saves me so much time also when I want to make a card. I can play around with different sizes then cut my paper.
What do you use to determine sizes of cardstock or designer paper when you are doing a card sketch or a scrapbook layout?
Let me know in the comments.
Thanks once again for stopping by. It's always appreciated.
Blessings,
Sue
