Look What Else I Made!
A Tutorial for a Top Note Box
Top Note Box Tutorial by Bensarmom
I took my idea from the Butterfly Bag that Allison made here:
http://alliohran.blogspot.com/2009/03/butterfly-bag.html
I wanted to figure out a box size to make since I didn’t have bags.
1. Take a 12x12 piece of paper and cut in half.
2. Take one 6x12 piece and cut out your two top note pieces.
3. Take the other 6x12 piece and cut it down to 6x10.
4. On the 10” side score at 4" and 6".
5. On the 6” side score at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2".
6. Fold using your bone folder to draw the scoring lines. The designer paper is thinner and often rips if you push too hard with the scoring blade.
7. Cut on the short sides as shown.
8. Add snail on the short pieces.
9. Attach the back piece to this short piece.
10. Add snail to the long side piece and attach to make the box.
12. Stamp butterfly in amethyst and cut out.
Punch the top two corners with the corner rounder and add amethyst ink to edges if wanted.
13. Punch out branch with Martha Stewart branch punch.
14. Add glue to paper and glue branches and center only of butterfly. (It's wings will be dimensional and raised up.)
15. Add butterfly then pearls.
16. Use dimensionals to attach decorated paper to box front.
18. Attach front and back top note pieces.
20. Put red line tape on each side of the ribbon. Wrap it around the back too.
21. Peel tape backing off and tape ribbon between the box and top note paper.
22. A variation of this would be to pinch the top of the top note box and close the box.
I'm working on a video for this as well. My DS is editing as we speak. We'll see how he does.
Thanks for visiting. Today was a rainy day which was a great time to stamp away in my stamp room.
If you try this let me know if it was easy to follow or not. It's been a while since I did one of these.

Time to Stamp, WooHoo!
I stamped Bella Toile in amethyst for the background then used a pretty cut out from the Cricut for my center. I added a flower to the center which was colored with pretty in pink marker then amethyst for the lines. I added branches from Martha Stewart branch punch in celery. The black square was put behind the amethyst paper then pretty in pink behind that. Two sides of the pink paper are wider than the other. Then I added celery ribbon to the two narrow sides of pink to even the look out. Something new for me.....using ribbon in a different way not a main part of the card or an obvious addition to the card. Might be a new how to use it challenge huh? I added Best Wishes in black from the oval all set.
I stamped Bella Toile in amethyst for the background then used Tea Party designer paper and cut a pretty leaf design with the Cricut and mounted it on amethyst paper with a 1/16" border of black paper. Then I versamarked it and added dazzling diamonds. The oval scallop punch with tea time paper and Best Wishes from Oval All. I added the eyelet border punch in celery to the bottom along with black gingham ribbon.
This was a beautiful card from my upline. I thought simple to make, elegant to look at. What do you think?
I also had some time to make some top note boxes. That's coming tomorrow to share with you.

Boxes, Boxes, Do I Have Boxes!
This is another box my upline and I made using the delicate dots paper and acetate for the sleeve. I wanted to add stomething to the sleeve that wouldn't take away from it so I added a faux metal scalloped oval. I used the oval all Fabulous Friend stamp and stamped into 4 layers of silver embossing to make a faux metal scallop.
My upline got the matchbox sizzix box and it's so much fun to experiment with different papers etc. Here is the designer paper used for the bottom of the box then clear acetate for the sleeve. I like how this turned out.
This is a cute matchbox that my upline cut out for me. We had fun putting different combinations together for the boxes. We used craft paper for the base and tea party paper for the sleeve. Oval all Just For You stamped in amethyst ink on the oval scallop. The scallop was added with dimensionals.
This is an explosion box I made following directions from Dawn's directions found here:http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad...osion-box.html
I used amethyst paper for the base of the box and tea party paper for the top. The scallop oval has thank you from oval all stamp set stamped on it and I used purple stickles around the edge.
Thanks for checking out all of my boxes. My upline and I had a blast making these!

God is Good and so is Spring!
This is my favorite picture of my family during my aware ceremony. I wanted to keep it on my desk so I made a frame for it using a coaster. The back has a piece of cardstock attached and bent slightly to hold the frame up.
I love how the world comes back to life in the spring. I can't wait to see flowers peeking out of the ground. I don't have daffodils or other spring bulbs so I'll be watching my garden come back to life. As I survey my world I am constantly reminded of all that God has made. I take it all so for granted, do you? I pray that I'll be more thankful for what I have and remember to thank God for all He's blessed me with.
Have a wonderful day!

Ahhhhh....Spring time is here!
I have missed stamping for over a week so I got some stampin' time for myself this morning.
Here's my project for the Inspiration Challenge today. I used the pillow box die cut. I used vanilla card stock which I ran through the cuttlebug to get the embossed look. Then I put the box together and used direct to paper with pink pirouette and celery. The scalloped oval punch was used to punch out Oval All which is stamped with Fabulous Friend. I used Tea Party design paper and cut out with the wide oval punch. All was held together with pretty in pink ribbon so this can be opened easily to be enjoyed.
Here's my project for the Inspiration Challenge today. I used the pillow box die cut. I used vanilla card stock which I ran through the cuttlebug to get the embossed look. Then I put the box together and used direct to paper with pink pirouette and saffron. The scalloped oval punch was used to punch out Just For You from the set, Oval All. All was held together with pretty in pink ribbon so this can be opened easily to be enjoyed.
Here is my triple play challenge! It is for today's inspiration challenge IC172, Sketch Challenge 220 and Limited Supply Challenge 212. I stamped in black on watercolor paper the detail flower from Soft Summer. The center image is stamped first then the right and left image were stamped off once. Next I used my watercolor crayons and aqua painter to color the flowers. When dry I went back and colored the center flowers with my pretty in pink marker and went back to color the muted flowers with watercolor again. I used saffron to watercolor around the flowers. The image panel is raised on dimensionals. The eyelet border punch was used to add some softness to the base of the image. I mounted the strips on black cardstock.
Today it got up to 47 degrees and DH got to sit out on the screened in porch to have coffee after dinner. What a treat! I love sitting out there when there are no yard toys from neighbors going.
I need to get back to work and ieps. Thanks for visiting and my peace, love and joy fill your heart.
